My last several projects have been spring items for myself, most recently this purple linen bag. I used this great tutorial from Purl Bee and a fairly heavy linen, which resulted in a nice, sturdy tote. I was interested in using linen for some of my Japanese dress patterns and so have been researching techniques and sources for linen. True Up has a great overview of linen and tips on sewing with linen. I ended up ordering a variety of linen from fabric-store.com: The prices are great, and there are some real bargains in the Doggy Bag section (end of bolts at 0.5-5 yard lengths). I also stumbled across "Linen Craft: 40 Projects for Home and Body" at Half Priced Books for, like, $7 the other day. (The one on South Lamar in Austin...There were still a stack of them last time I was there, if you are interested and local.) It has come cute bags and baby gifts among the projects.Sewing with linen makes me want a serger even more...
